SWE Announcement: November 2, 2011

Tewodros Ashenafi was a key note speaker at the prestigious Africa Oil Week conference, held in Cape Town in early November. Now in its 18th year, Africa Oil Week is a firm fixture in the calendar for leaders in Africa’s oil industry. Attendees ranged from leading oil and gas companies, governments, state oil and gas players, service and supply companies, energy banks, financiers, traders and industry deal-makers.

The event focused on Africa’s vast portfolio and provided key insights on Africa’s upstream - exploration and development - future, trends and challenges, onshore and offshore. According to Reuters, East Africa is generating plenty of buzz as a new oil and gas frontier. One statistic stood out: Only 500 wells have been drilled in East Africa, while West Africa is dotted with 15,000 and North and Central Africa with 20,000.

SouthWest Energy was profiled during CEO Ashenafi’s presentation, which detailed compelling reasons to explore in the Horn of Africa.
